The Supreme Court recently passed a ruling on the Affordable Care Act cementing its legality. With this ruling, businesses will supply healthcare benefits to employees to make healthcare affordable for everyone. This means a few changes for how business offer coverage.
Employee Healthcare Options Will Change
Because employees will now have more options in affordable health care, they will be required to use company provided health insurance. Employees who choose to go outside of ACA compliant company coverage may pay a tax penalty at the end of the year. Employers are hoping to change this regulation as the IRS reporting requirements can be complex.
Employers Will Offer Health Care
It is now mandated that companies with more than 50 employees provide ADA compliant insurance. Since 2014, it has been an ongoing debate, but after receiving an extension last year, they are now expected to comply with ACA regulations. Starting in 2016, all medium-sized employers will begin offering healthcare coverage.

Extra Benefits to Be Eliminated
Healthcare plans that feature extra benefits for higher-paid employees will not be considered ACA compliant. Though tiered plans have traditionally been a part of the healthcare system, the ACA will no longer allow them. Affordable health care and equal benefits will be offered to all employees, regardless of pay scale.

Staffing Firms to Offer Healthcare
Staffing firms will now offer ACA-compliant health care to employees. With over 14 million people hired by staffing firms last year, the need for affordable health care options has grown. Prior to 2015, only top quality staffing firms chose to comply with the ACA. By next year, all staffing firms will be required to offer healthcare.
